ERIN BLISS

wood worker, metal worker

About

Erin Bliss is a non-binary, Chicago-based artist focused on making beautiful and practical art objects from reclaimed and found materials. They reorganize and reveal the inherent beauty of a material in a new form that induces a sense of wonder separate from its past life. They use their intuition to guide what they make. There is control over the process but it is the materials themselves that dictate the beauty of the end result. They have worked making art, furniture and functional objects for the past seven years. Currently, Erin works at The Field Museum as a mount maker for the exhibitions department. They also teach woodworking classes at The Rebuilding Exchange in Bucktown. Over time they have developed an affection for forgotten and salvaged materials and objects that has always been their fascination.
